Before

The old existing bathroom needed a complete overhaul – however the space was very limited (3.5m2) and would not have allowed for much change in layout. At the same time, after extending the house, what was previously the kitchen was now only used as a walk-through storage room. We decided to combine a part of the old kitchen and the old entrance into a sizeable space (8m2) for a new bathroom, cutting off some space to access the stairs.

Inspiration

This project was a transformation born from merging spaces, turning an old kitchen and entrance into a spacious, luxurious retreat. Drawing on a lush, tropical theme, the moodboard centred around deep greens, soft pinks, and brass accents, setting a strikingly elegant tone. A focal point was created with a chinoiserie-inspired green forest wallpaper behind a blush pink freestanding tub, infusing the room with both sophistication and warmth. To amplify this aesthetic, custom storage was discreetly integrated, including a beautifully crafted mirror concealing storage space. Lighting also played a vital role, with Loxone mood settings: a soft chandelier over the tub, dress mirror lighting, and ambient brass accents. Every detail combined to make this bathroom a serene escape, balanced between functional luxury and immersive design.

Renovation

This bathroom renovation began with a complete reimagining of the layout. Previously limited to a cramped 3.5 m², the space was expanded by combining part of the old kitchen and entrance, creating a generous 8 m² footprint. The layout change allowed for the addition of a freestanding bathtub, a spacious walk-in shower, and a custom double sink vanity, while also introducing a separate toilet area for added functionality. Every detail was designed with purpose: custom storage was thoughtfully hidden behind an elegant, carved mirror, the double vanity drawers made maximum use of the available space and insets within the shower wall kept essentials close. The layered lighting design, with Loxone mood settings, brought an adaptable ambiance. This renovation transformed a once-limited area into a lush, spa-like haven, seamlessly blending elegance with practicality.
